Water In A Simple Gesture

Born from the pencil of Davide Vercelli, Switch for Fima Carlo Frattini is a shower system that behind a small button hides great functionality, able to simplify the ‘shower experience’.
A brainchild of Davide Vercelli, Switch by Fima Carlo Frattini is a shower system that conceals great functionality behind a small button able to simplify the ‘shower experience.’

The goal of this project is to improve daily actions by creating a wide and complete shower system that uses resources and materials responsibly and focuses on personalization.

Switch, as the name itself says, activates water flows simply by pushing a round button in correspondence with the outlet. In this way, it makes it possible to create one’s system enjoying maximum compositional and spatial freedom, choosing between three different outlets that can operate various systems, either independently or simultaneously, including hand shower, Kneipp hand shower, side jets, wall outlet, and on/off button. The block that controls temperature and flow rate is the core of the project.

Thinking about the ergonomics of the system, the design of the two temperature and flow control knobs is generous, with a central protuberance connected to the base for easy use. In addition to the minimal volumes of the recessed bodies, dimensions are in general discreet, keeping in mind the aesthetic impact of the product.

Moreover, particular attention has been paid to sustainability: the natural vertical position of the knobs encourages responsible use of water. Fima Carlo Frattini has designed Switch in three versions: built-in, shelf, and column. In particular, the built-in version allows water flows to be activated by placing them in correspondence with the respective outlet. This version of SWITCH offers two installation options: a predefined and facilitated installation of the various components thanks to a track recessed into the wall, which can be purchased separately; and an arrangement that offers extraordinary design autonomy, allowing for a free distribution of all the chosen components to create a custom-made composition inside the shower.
