The evolution of the mixer

Among the elements of genuine evolution in contemporary design are those capable of overcoming the close connection between form and function, introducing complex modes of use that transfer to the form the quality of pure communication.

This kind of research includes the multidisciplinary approach of Davide Vercelli, a designer, and engineer who conceives the development of each product not only on a technological level but also as a strategy for communication.

This attitude forms the backdrop to the creation of SO, a new, dual-control tap that marks a significant step in the search for innovation that distinguishes FIMA Carlo Frattini. Observing the classic gestures related to use, Vercelli has come up with a product that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of the classic mixer, conceiving a device that, responding to modes of use, allows the quantity and temperature of the water to be adjusted more effectively.

The heart of the design lies in the controls, a cylinder from which a portion has been removed through the longitudinal section, with a slightly rounded end. A detail that combines the refinement of form with ergonomics and practicality when it comes to turning the tap on and off, calibrating aesthetics and functionality. The highlight of the range is the new single-hole mixer, characterized by two rotating controls: on the left the smaller, higher knob for adjusting temperature and keeping it at the desired setting; on the right the larger, lower one to turn on and regulate flow. This model and the three-hole mixer are also green at heart, with their 10 mm diameter spout that limits the flow of the water, meeting everyday needs and giving the tap a slender and elegant profile.

The collection is completed by numerous models for sinks, a bath group for mounting on the side of the tub, a floor-standing bath mixer, bidet mixer, and shower fixtures. The entire SO range is characterized by the versatility and complementarity of the models and combinations of colors and materials, that enable the mood of the bathroom to be completely customized. Six galvanized finishes are available and two colors, that can be specified individually for a complete look or combined with one another. In addition, three material textures are available for the controls: grey cement and two kinds of wood. The result is a tap with great expressive strength, stimulating to both touch and sight.
